…” Neuroplasticity is the brain's remarkable ability to reorganize itself by forming new neural connections throughout life in response to experiences, learning, and injury. This process involves changes in brain structure and function, allowing the brain to adapt, learn new skills, and recover from damage. It enables individuals to learn, form new memories, and change habitual patterns of thinking and behaviour…”
Neuroplasticity is really a new concept for me, as going through two medical schools, I have learnt that if nerve cells die, it’s final and brain recovery is either very minimal or practically none. And honestly, I lived through and with this concept watching my father after suffering a stroke that left him paralyzed on half of his body at the age of 61 y.o.
We didn’t manage to build those new neuronal connections, but we really did the best we could in those days, aka a few decades ago.
I don’t claim to be a neurologist, and indeed, I don’t know all the “tricks in their bags”; I am just learning amazing nutrient-dense food diets, I am learning how to upregulate cellular pathways, optimizing cellular detoxification and mitochondrial function with mitogenesis. I am learning the connections of a healthy microgut with the brain, and most importantly, I am learning the power of praying, human touch and kindness. All of these, indeed, build new neural connections.
The power of belief, hope, and never giving up is huge.
My third episode of the Neuroplasticity podcast will uncover exactly what I shared with you.
With hugs and love to you all.
